Sturling - 'S'tick or 'S'lide delivery, 'T'wo-person team, c’URLING'. Delivery can be done with a stick or the more traditional slide.
We have come to the realization that players using the stick can be competitive with slide curlers, and there is no need for to exclude regular curlers from the Stick Curling leagues that have developed at PACC. Thursday afternoon sturlers will play 2 matches with the first draw at 2:30 pm and the late draw at 3:45 pm. In this league you sign up with a partner and you remain teammates for the entire season. Two games will be played back to back. Watch for a one day Sturling spiel in February. Here's how Sturling works: - Games are 6 ends only. - Each team is comprised of two curlers. Each player can deliver with a stick or use the traditional curling delivery method. - One member of each team stays at each end of the rink, and must not cross center ice. - The two delivering curlers alternately deliver six stones each per end, while their teammates skip that end. Then roles are reversed. - Sweeping/brushing is not allowed between the hog lines. - The first 3 stones delivered in an end may not be removed from play before delivery of the 4th stone of that end. If that happens, the delivered stone is removed from play and all other stones are returned to their original position.
